10 Eastern Longneck Turtle hatchlings have been released into the wild at Mudgeeraba, after recently hatching at Currumbin Wildlife Hospital. The eggs were harvested and incubated for 80 days, after their mum was sadly hit by a car, and did not survive.

“This is a really important reminder, that if you come across an injured animal, it could be pregnant or carrying eggs and as always will need urgent veterinary attention.” Senior Vet Dr Michael Pyne OAM Currumbin Wildlife Hospital. “If you’re unsure call Wildcare on (07) 55272444.”

The turtles, which measured approximately 3 centimeters in size, were safely released by a Currumbin Wildlife Hospital vet nurse and her children.

Currumbin Wildlife Hospital currently has another 74 eggs incubating on site, from 7 different species, including Lizards and Turtles.
