Tree to Me

Help Keep Koalas Fed
Did you know a single Koala can eat the leaves of up to 1,000 gum trees every year? With around 400 of Koalas admitted, treated and rehabilitated every year, the demand for fresh, nutritious eucalyptus leaves is enormous. On top of that, recovering Koalas from a sickness or injury tend to be very fussy eaters. Our gum cutters and vet nurses go to great lengths to select several types of gum every day to keep the Hospital patients happy.
Our fodder plantations currently house around 38,000 eucalyptus trees, but constant harvesting means they don’t last forever. To ensure there’s always enough food and gum variaties for recovering Koalas, we need to keep planting – and you can help.
