Veterinary Nursing Placement

Gain hands-on experience

This is an exciting opportunity for students interested in enrolling in the Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing by TAFE NSW to gain hands-on industry experience in the care, treatment, and rehabilitation of native Australian wildlife in a professional clinical setting.

If you’re accepted into the course, you will have the opportunity to complete your practical placement at Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, doing one day per week alongside our experienced team.

Criteria

You must have previous experience or completed study before you can enrol:

  • Completion of the Certificate II in Animal Care as evidenced by your certificate or transcript, or
  • Completion of a Certificate III or higher qualification in a related field, like the Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care or Certificate III in Animal Care Services, as evidenced by your certificate or transcript, or
  • Access to a veterinary clinic to fulfil your mandatory work placement requirements as evidenced by a letter with an official letterhead from your employer

Application Process

Take part in an interview and complete a TAFE NSW Entry Pathways Toolkit, which we will use to evaluate your current skills and knowledge in an animal science discipline to determine if they are equivalent to the above qualifications

About The Hospital

Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, is one of the busiest wildlife hospitals in the world. Our mission to treat, rehabilitate and release sick, injured and orphaned Australian wildlife, has seen us treat over 200,000 animals since we opened in 1989.
