Community spirit was in full swing when the first sod was turned on the World-Class Currumbin Wildlife Institute on Friday the 27th of March.

We are extremely grateful to everyone who celebrated this wonderful milestone at either the Ceremony or the Lunch at The Homestead.

Construction is now officially underway on the Currumbin Wildlife Institute, which will be a world-class facility set to transform wildlife care from emergency response to science-led conservation, research and education.

This $17m project is backed by all three levels of government, with $14m funding secured for construction.

The remaining $3m is still required to finalise the construction, fit-out and to purchase essential equipment.

The culture of philanthropy started with a pledge from a generous foundation whose trustees offered an incentive to match dollar for dollar, every donation made up to $500,000. This act of charitable leadership has encouraged others to join the select group of Foundational Supporters.

Philanthropist of the Year 2024, Maureen Stevenson, pledged the very first piece of equipment on the Wish List.

The donations and wish List items given by individuals and organisations has been astounding. Dr Pyne and the team are so grateful for this show of support, kindness and generosity.

Jingeri – Hello

We respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the greater Yugambeh language region, the Country on which Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and Hospital are situated today. We recognise their continuing connections to the land, sky, waters (waterways), and wildlife. We thank them for caring for this Country and its ecosystems.

We celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and we pay our respect to Elders past and present.
