Currumbin Wildlife Hospital gives wildlife a second chance during dangerous weather events, like the storms that recently hit South East Queensland.

Damaging winds, hail and rain can cause mayhem for wildlife and our vet team are faced with an influx of sick, injured and orphaned patients.

Our vet team relies on the materials, equipment, and supplies donated via our Wishlist to support these vulnerable patients throughout catastrophic weather events.

During storm season there are many birds that are displaced and nests destroyed, leaving chicks grounded.

Vet Nurse Monica recently treated an orphaned Channel-Billed Cuckoo named Island.

Poor Island was rescued after being reported injured in the wild, with no parents in sight.

The vet team will treat Island’s broken tail feathers and once stable will go into foster care before being released in the wild.

This storm season please keep an eye out for animals in distress and call Currumbin Wildlife Hospital on (07) 5534 0813.
